iPhone Coming to Verizon?

According to an article published by USA Today on June 30th, Verizon will supposedly begin offering Apple's iPhone in January 2011. The newspaper received this information from two people familiar with the plans who asked to remain anonymous since this information is not yet public. USA Today was unable to independently verify this claim since spokespeople from Apple, Verizon, and AT&T all declined to comment. I have read many articles recently speculating about Verizon and the iPhone, though so far no sources have been able to confirm any of the rumors. If these rumors prove to be true, Apple will drastically increase the amount of iPhones it sells since so many consumers have been dissatisfied with the quality of AT&T's network, which is undergoing a $2 billion upgrade this year. Analysts estimate Verizon customers would purchase 3 million iPhones in the first quarter of 2011, bringing Apple's iPhone sales for 2011 to 15 million units. I switched from Verizon to AT&T when I purchased my first iPhone three years ago and have been generally satisfied with their service and coverage. I have noticed that AT&T's service is definitely not as reliable as Verizon's, though I would be in no hurry to switch back to Verizon if it begins offering the iPhone next year.
